DO WE NEED DATA RECOVERY TOOLS
Remo Recover Pro is a player in a crowded market and facing some stiff competition, price wise and usability wise. We have reviewed some competitors so we know what to expect and how others perform. Question; Do we need a Data Recovery tool ? Well, we may hope not, but in case you do lose your precious data due to a deletion mistake you find yourself lucky that there is a way to recover your data loss. Mind you, using any Data Recover toll will take some time to do the trick, but in the end you find yourself in relieved state of mind; Great, all is recovered…
REMO RECOVERY in ACTION
The complete recover process is in terms of interface and necessary clicks is not very exiting and should guide you through the steps. Important are available recoverable file formats, detection of (external)storage and speed. This is where I encountered my first problem with Remo Recover, as it didn’t detect my external source (WD Duo drives) formatted with HFS Plus ( Apple format ):
Changing the Recover process from the main interface from; VOLUMES RECOVERY to FORMATTED/REFORMATTED RECOVERY made the external drives visible ?
Doing the exact same process with iBoySoft Recover software, was a better experience as all drives/volumes are detected straight away. So point of critic here !
For testing we choose a DEEP SCAN detection process to find maximum number of recoverable files. Our volume is 298 Gb data and deep scan takes 4 hours with both applications. For a final recovery it would take another 12 hours performing the deep scan recovery!
So time consuming process in order to recover your lost files.
Remo Recover for Mac comes in different packages:
SUPPORTED FILES/FORMAT’S
I guess there’s not much more to wish for, as I feel all file-formats/type are supported. ( Click to enlarge image ! )
SPEED & FOUND FILES
In this case I tried Remo Recover and Cisdem Data Recovery to compare speed and found files. Well the results are astonishing! I am surprised about the difference in found files and have no explanation why these massive result
differences appear.
I used an external drive partition of about 300 Gb fixed data and 800 Gb drive size. Ran both applications in Deep Scan in order to find as much data possible. The results below speak for themselves I think;
To cut a long story short, Cisdem Data Recovery takes half the time for a full Deep Scan and finds twice the amount of files present. iBoySoft also takes about 4 hours for a Deep Scan. It makes me wonder if I do things right, as this is a huge difference in performance.
PRICING COMPARED
VERDICT
I feel Remo Recover Pro is not beating the competition, by pricing, speed , files recovered. Its interface and recover choices and steps are good, but not as good as Cisdem Data Recovery, but better than iBoySoft. Given its price and speed, we cannot advice on this application. The competition is better in many ways. The software was unable to recognise the external disks at some recover choices, which is bad as this is a basic procedure. Cisdem and iBoySoft recognised the disk on every recover choice. Given the fact that Cisdem was reporting double files numbers for recovery, I am stuck with a negative review of this application.
